We are looking at a trip to Skye probably in May - has anyone got some tips for best/easiest route from Fort William and campsite recommendation on Skye?

Depends if you want to take the ferry or the bridge. Taking the bridge will see you go through Kyle of Lochalsh, where the chippie at the old Bank does a decent fish supper Or of you're taking the ferry you'll go through Mallaig, and a pint of prawns never goes wrong
We stayed in the caravan and camping club site when we went to Skye. Nice enough, clean facilities etc. We opted for that site as it was the last site on our island hopping holiday and had just left a site in Harris that had great views but no facilities, so we wanted to stay on a site that would have a decent standard being c&cc.
Are you visiting any of the other islands?

We have only got a couple of days so I’m not sure if we will get to any other islands but wanted to visit Skye particulary as it’s on our must see bucket list. I think I will probably opt for the bridge and fish n chips! Thanks for your tip and will look to book the C&cc site.

I think the bridge is the best way to get over nowadays. Skye is a nice island. We rented a cottage so can't recommend a campsite. Plenty to do and see. Take your insect precautions with you. Our Scottish midge is a nasty wee beastie. It's the females who will bite you.
Bear in mind that Scotland is much kinder on where you can park though I would always recommend a proper campsite.

Hi SS, thanks for the info. I was hoping we were going to avoid the dreaded midges by going in early May are they still a problem then? I’ve chosen to stay at the ‘CampingSkye’ site as it is close to Broadford for our base and looks like it has plenty of amenities also it’s not far from the bridge which we will use.
