Subject: mains power packs as leisure battery Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:04 pm
Had a thought and wondered if anyone else had thought similar.

Though expensive these would make excellent leisure batteries. My thoughts being it provides 12v for the fridge circuit, and 240v for the wall plugs in our vans. In place charging would be via the existing mains input. With an addition providing a light for grubbing round under the seat.
The main issue is they have no over charge protection so would not take well to sitting on charge beyond 100%.
So the only way they may be of use is splitting the mains incomer with an IEC 320 connector, then either using mains hookup or plugging this in with what is a PC power lead and then can "off grid" for much longer as it would be charging the leisure battery and mains wall plugs as if on hookup.
Anyone done this? They seem an excellent thing to have round the house and if I can use it in my van all the better.

A nice idea, but at 200w max on 240v you won't be able to run very much for very long. You would need a larger version of it is you plan on using it to supply the 240v sockets.
The 12v output looks reasonable but not sure how long it would be able to sustain the fridge (the specs on their website state 10.4h for a 40w - presumably 240v - fridge).
