2014 Northern Chapter Meet

Right - that's the brilliant weekend that is The Sleepover done and we're rapidly approaching the Northern Meet on 20th June.

There's plenty of room in our allocated area so it's not to late to swell our numbers. We can't promise all the excitement of the Sleepover but we don't bite up North and we'd love to see some more of you joining us.

Sunny - you said you might be able to come - who else fancies a spectacular view of Morecambe Bay?

I think this sorts out where Mrs B will want to walk to on the Saturday of the Northern Meet:

It's about a 3.5 mile walk from the campsite or 5 minutes on the train from Silverdale Station.

We've got a big charcoal BBQ at work - how about I bring it along and we all eat together on Friday night? If we all brought our own food we could eat whenever we're ready and if we keep it going all night it'll provide some background heat too. Thoughts?

This is looking good for us fri pos sat and sun def so will see up north .i am going to put up awning so pole will help lol

great idea abs,do we need to bring some bbq bricks etc,is it a conventional one so any type will do?

It's a charcoal one, Tony but I'll bring some along. I'm not a great BBQ-er but I'm sure we'll get it going ok.

Hope we get some decent weather.

Brilliant - I've added you to the list on Page One.

Has anyone heard from North Poles at all? They said they were coming (last November) but I've not heard from them for some time. I sent a PM but haven't had a reply.

BBQ sounds great, hopefully we'll be there at a reasonable time to use it!

Two weeks today and we'll be sitting round the BBQ (weather permitting)  

I've been thinking about charcoal. If we're going to have the BBQ on all evening (and maybe Sat night as well) it might be an idea for some people to bring a bag with them so we don't run out. I'll bring a big bag but not sure how long it'll last.

Friday

Arrival.
Afternoon short walk to Jenny Brown's Point for anyone who's there in time, maybe ending at the local tea room near the site for tea and cakes.
BBQ in the evening.



Saturday

Lazy morning.
Late morning (11.30?) walk (3.6 miles) to Arnside for the Vintage Show on the Prom (train available there and/or back for those who'd prefer not to walk). There a chip shop in Arnside plus several pubs and cafes if we want some food.
Evening - another BBQ? or walk down the road to the pub for food.







Sunday

I thought we might have a cruise to Morecambe and a drink in the Art Deco, Midland Hotel if enough people are up for it (route below). If we leave at 11.30 we should be there about noon. There's a car park opposite the Hotel that we should be able to get into.





In the meantime, please keep your fingers crossed for some Lancashire sunshine.
