Guys I love this site to bits, from content to navigation to everything and I don't like criticisms, but I personally find that the white text on black background really strains my eyes. In fact I'd like to spend more time on the site, but I find it really difficult even after reducing the screen contrast, but maybe I'm just the odd one

Tiggy I have to agree the site is fantastic but I do find the White on black does strain my eyes. I just have to keep coming back. Love the suggestion of a how to. Perhaps a few of the Companies may add 'how to' in a bid to sell products would create a good information library.

Keep the suggestions coming and at a set point the admin team will review what's come up and take it from there.

They do but it's an arduous process. They do offer the function whereby the whole site changes 'skin' - to incorporate colour changes, but this also changes the style of text, look of the page, possibly some functions. It would require a fair bit of time offline to sort. It took me a week to get the site looking how it does now when I set it up.

Doesn't at all mean I'm not prepared to do it in the future, but just to make people aware that it's something that may have the site down for a period, because I have to maintain it around my work/life schedule.

Do you have access to the site/theme stylesheets? If so it's really easy to change the colours, font types sizes etc, happy to help with a bit of CSS coding.

As Tilly correctly observes the style of the site is reflective of it's subject matter. I wanted it to be easily identifiable and different from other forums in colouring such as The Late Bay. I also didn't want it just looking like a load of horizontal lines, the web is full of forums like that.

So I've made a temporary change to the background.

How do people feel about that?

Comes up blue on my screen now - on first login ever it was grey then turned blue.
Find cursor hard to see in the login boxes.
I was happy with Tim's white on black and now find this NOT an improvement.

I personally prefer the white on black…what about yellow on green...

From a technical point of view, white on black gives the highest contrast, however the 'readability' of the font type then comes into play as some will produce too much contrast resulting in 'glare'. The same is true (sometimes worse) with other combinations, yellow on pretty much anything is bad, blue/red is also not good.

Put simply, there is a reason why most web sites (and printed materials) are black on white, or at least darker on lighter, although combinations within a particular colour using different hues tend to work quite well.

We'll keep this colouring for 24 hours and see how folks find it. Please make your opinion known. Again ...... this is a trial.

It's been nearly 2 years since I set up this site Trevor and I've only received criticism about its look recently. We manage to convey an enormous amount of information in a stylish and entertaining way. Again as has been mentioned before, the site reflects its topic and the diverse community it serves.

It's nice to have a forum that looks a bit different to all the rest out there, don't really want to go all boring and plain like the others. Gives it a personality.

Maybe the blue with black text.

In my honest opinion I preferred it before the blue. The text is much harder to read now.

Its beautiful, easy to read (and long overdue )
I prefer the blue.

Been going along time without any complaints, always found it easy to use, so for me the jury is out on this one, have too see if it grows on me........

Blue is the way forward, whether for camper vans or forums.

I was happy with what we had, I dont have any issues with white on black, I can easliy read white on blue, but having problems with blue on black.
