| Do you not find these quick shifters interfere with the handbrake operation? I put one on and then took it off again as you couldn't put it in first gear with the handbrake on, they need to be a couple of inches shorter I reckon. | |

| Just fitted mine today. Was a bit of a faf getting it to work properly but it's all sorted now. Simple job when you know what your doing.
The gear change is so much more positive. Would definitely recomend.
If anyone else is going to fit one, you neeed to use bigger of the two spacers that are supplied. ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van

| The EMPI shifter is our 'to-do' list, the that never gets shorter, only longer! ________________________________________________________________________________ www.alpinegrovetouringpark.com Twitter: @AlpineGrove Facebook: facebook.com/alpinegrovetouringpark

Ditto. Can't believe how my To Buy/Do list is growing, and I've only had Sunny a month.

| Got mine off ebay as well. Still works a treat, the gear change is so much more positive now. It's easy to fit just a bit of a faff lining it up. Well worth doing though ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van | |

| I had one from Custom and Commercial but I sent it back
It definately improved the gear change but didn't like it being so close to the handbrake especially doing hill starts.
It became a struggle to change gear though so took it to a mechanic who said the stick was fauly so returned it back to C&C. That was a nightmare but eventually got my money back. Why I should have to email Empi direct to return a faulty stick is beyond me. After getting stroppy and after 4 phone calls I eventually got the money back.
The mechanic said he would fit a new one no problem but for now the old one seems to be ok.

| Am having issues with EMPI shifter. It seems to be getting stuck in reverse and frequently can't select first gear and difficulty with second. It's been back twice and the mechanic who installed it says that the spacers required to install it are too narrow, ie not covering base of stick. This means that despite tightening all bolts as much as possible, there is still some play in the alignment. Am needing van for road trip in two weeks, so he wants to put original gear stick back in.
Anyone got any experience of this, or any advice?
Thanks. | |

| Are you sure it's set up correctly? They take a bit of fiddling with. Check the bolts haven't come loose. I had that trouble with mine. All is fine now though ________________________________________________________________________________ Ginger man without a ginger van | |

It's possible that you might need to enlarge the holes in the floor into slots in order to get the correct alignment. Don't do that until you have checked though. VW Kampers installed our EMPI shifter for us, and I'm only recalling what Ian Harris told me.
