| www.volksworldshow.com Update 6th February 2013 by TimV There's no room for us to display this year in the Club area so we're just attending on the Saturday and will create our own stand in the car park. The plan is to arrive early on the Saturday morning and choose a prominent spot. The advantage to doing this is we can come and go as we please rather than having to wait for the show to close. We ought to be able to choose a spot where folks can look around our BraziBays as they enter/exit the show. As we're not officially in the show we won't get any comp passes I'm afraid, but that means you don't have to buy a ticket unless you actually want to go into the show. You are advised to buy your tickets prior to the show weekend as they are cheaper that way. I've been in contact with the organising team at the show and asked them to offer us a discount on advanced ticket prices, which they duly have. We can get 15% off but I need to buy them in one go. So if you know that you want to go into the show on SATURDAY ONLY - then please pm me and I'll let you know where to send your cheque. I need cheques by 1st March. The price to us of the tickets is: Saturday Adult £10.20 Saturday Child (aged 6 - 15)/OAP £ 2.89 Saturday Family (2 adults and up to 3 children aged 6-15) £ 22.95 Update 17th MarchTickets have arrived - please collect from me either at my gaff or in the Kombi-park! As I live 4 miles from the show, as previously would people like to meet at mine with a view to heading down together to the show? If so I reckon we should aim to leave my place at 8.15 sharp. Feel free to arrive at my house anytime from 7am. The kettle will be on along with bacon baps. If you haven't bought tickets through the club but still want to join us in our park-up, you're welcome along. Please just say so below so we know who to expect/wait for. At Sandown I'm hoping we get a decent spot and we'll raise the Brazilian flags so others may find us. I'll have Brazilian coffee on the go throughout the day plus you'll be able to see and buy the new club clothing. I'll also have new logo bus stickers on-board. | If you're in the display, you have to be on site by 0830 and park up in formation wherever they put us. Your Kombi then stays in place until the show closes that day at around 5.30 on the Sat, 4.30 on the Sun.
Most folks who display either do so for one day, or kip at mine somewhere as I live 4 miles from the show. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Due to the lack of coverage of the end of production of the Kombi by Volksworld and Camper & Bus, I would like us all to consider a boycott of this show. Please let me know your thoughts. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay | |

| My own view, for what it's worth, is that I understand your ire, Tim, but, altruistically, it would be a shame to deny visitors to the Show the opportunity to see our vans.
Any beef with the organisers is, for me, less important than encouraging more sales of BraziBays, whether new from Danbury or via the second hand sales market. The more that are out there, the better the back up support that will be available and, also, more people will be interested in joining this Forum.
I am known within our business for knee jerk reactions when people upset me. Sometimes, when someone's had a quiet word, I can see the bigger picture. Doesn't stop me chunnering though! ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| We don't attend shows so perhaps not qualified to contribute to a boycott. But do agree with Absinthe's points above regarding the profile of the BraziBay.
There is actually a one line comment in the Forum Chat section of the Camper and Bus website. http://forums.volksworld.com/showthread.php?p=35445#post35445 Tim, might you respond to that with a link back to the BrazilianVWbay.com discussions? This potentially could prod the editorial staff to give more recognition.
Perhaps only the actual death of the Brazilian T2 can ensure it's cult, classic status in the wider world.

| We have attended the show for the last 3 years, being on the Club Stand last year. Consequently, Scooby did not plan to attend next year's show in any shape or form. We would however, not wish to stop others attending. If there is sufficient support for a Club Stand then perhaps there should be one. If not, then there is no need for one. We are sure Danbury will be there to maintain a Brazi Bay profile at the show. ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run | |

| Just a thought but why don't we use the show to highlight the news. In many ways this would force the editors of said magazines to perhaps give the Brazilian bays some exposure. | |

| I hear what you're saying guys, and no kiteman, I'm not on nights.
I just find it so disappointing that these publications give such little attention to the BraziBay, yet are quite happy to take a considerable amount of cash from 3 of our advertisers each month, who each deal in Kombis.
I was told to expect a visit from James Peene, Editor of Camper & Bus, at this year's event. He never showed.
I've questioned on both publication's Facebook pages as to why this major news in the VW world hasn't been mentioned. No response so far. ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Tend to agree with the general thought here that a boycott would probably not make a great deal of difference. I don't don't bother buying either of the magazines anymore as there are never any articles concerning Brazi bays, that's my boycott!!

I do read VW Camper & Commercial regularly and the editor David Eccles works hard to provide in-depth vehicle reports and wider show and other news. From January this becomes a monthly instead of bi-monthly magazine. I wrote to David Eccles when his Leader column suggested that he was thinking of selling his long owned Split and updating. - Quote :
- Dear David,
Moving to a more modern VW Camper?
I thoroughly enjoy reading every issue of VW Camper & Commercial. Recently in your Leader Column you have told of selling your beloved Split and hinted that, because of advancing years, you maybe are needing to drive more modern technology. After trying it out, you did say how much you would like to own a VW T5 California. I see also your plans are well advanced to launch a new ‘T4 & T5’ magazine. However, I also see that at Camper Jam 2012 your Special Display ‘The Boys from Brazil’ will include the water-cooled, Totalflex, VW T2 Bay which is still in current production in Brazil and capable of running on petrol or ethanol. Just wondering of your thoughts on which of these modern 2011 campers would offer you the best balance of the ‘old-life’ with the ‘new’?
This and his reply (he bought the T5) appeared page 19 of issue 58, March/April 2012 osg

David Eccles had alluded to his aging body in considering the need to change from his Split. His reasons for choosing the T5 California were luxury, space(?), comfort, power-steering and modern driving experience. Plus the fact that it is 'VW's first factory camper'. He did acknowledge the 'nostalgic pull' and the 'cute factor' of the Brazilian Bay but thought his change 'had to be for something radically different'. He now describes himself as a 'Glamper' osg
