Abs: Those are a few of the ones I was thinking of, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Seatown, Lyme Regis, Beer, Seaton, Sidmouth, plus the larger ones, Bournemouth, Poole, Weymouth and Portland Bill.

Will the mozzie bites ever go away??? Fed up with them now , feet are red raw so think it might be time for some antibiotics... That's if I can get an appointment!!

Alison bought some antihistamine cream from Boots whilst we were away. They've all gone now so it might be worth getting some, Steve.

Looks like they were gnats and it seems vinegar can help: Gnat Bites

Cheer Abs , got some bite cream which seems to be doing nothing so will try the vinegar route for sure.. Might grab a bag of chips too

Funny you should say that. I've just promised to take Mrs B to Lytham tonight for her favourite fish bites. It's an excuse for me to drive her new Mini but don't tell her.

Yep, still got one really stubborn bite on my hand. Driving me mad. I have to say it's the one reason I could not commit to the Kaper in Scotland. We'd spend the whole time covered in vinegar!
You could say we'd be pickled.

I've not really suffered before with bites , had a couple in France that went a bit nasty but these little blighters just seem to be calming down and then come back with vengeance...

I had one on my ankle that was soar for a while but it's long gone now. Mrs T hasn't been complaining about any bites so she may have escaped unscathed.

The secret is to start taking vitamin B in any form about a month before you are likely to encounter the mossies, this helps stop them biting you, don't know why, but it does. We've used it before going to Australia and St Lucia both renown for the things and all escaped un bitten.

I've heard that works with mosquitos but I'm not so sure with gnats.

Mrs C uses avon skin so soft products to try and prevent them but always is on the menu in France. This year got some hydrocortisone cream from pharmacy iin Super U in Jard sur Mer and it was great in healing the bites up.

Anyone ever considered why they eat so much chilli in warmer climates? Aside from having a preserving affect on some food types, it thins the blood and releases pheromones that keep the wee beasties away.

Skin So Soft certainly helps with the midge issue but it doesn't stop them entirely - certainly not on Harris this year.
