| By the way, I'm due to talk to the Tramway Museum this week to finalise the details, then I will put out a notice on the forum. We visited the campsite just over a week ago. The location is great, the site owners very helpful, and there are still some pitches available for anyone who still wants to book. | |

| The Bakewell tart developed as a variant of the Bakewell pudding in the 20th century.[1][2] Although the terms Bakewell tart and Bakewell pudding have been used interchangeably, each name refers to a specific dessert recipe.[1] The tart is closely associated with the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire but there is no evidence it originated there.[1][2] The tart is available in cake shops and supermarkets throughout the United Kingdom.[1]
looking forward to both! |

I'm with you. I'm not a fan of organised clothing displays. I'm also against colour coordinated van line ups so I must be a rebel.

| Apologies for interrupting the tart vs pudding debate, but I now have more information about the arrangements for the Northern Chapter Meet from June 10th to 12th. As you all know, this will be held at the Greenhills Holiday Park, located between Ashford in the Water and Bakewell, Derbyshire. www.greenhillsholidaypark.co.uk Arrival is from 1pm onwards on June 10th. For those who have a long journey, arrival is available up until midnight, and there is no barrier at the entrance. We plan to have barbecues on both Friday and Saturday evening. Martin and Alison are bringing an event shelter and a barbecue. In view of the numbers attending, the site have said that we can use two event shelters. Does anyone else have one that they can bring along? Also, an extra barbecue would be handy if anyone has one. Our barbecue is normally a communal exercise, so if everyone can bring an offering that would be appreciated. The campsite has its own bar and shop on site, as well as a children's playground, football pitch and dog walking field. The schedule is pretty informal, but we may well arrange games of walking football, rounders and frisbee. The picture postcard village of Ashford in the Water is about 15 minutes walk, and has two excellent pubs and a tea room. There is a riverside walk from Ashford to Bakewell, about 1.5 miles away. There is also a regular bus service between Ashford and Bakewell, which travels on to other destinations as far as Buxton and Derby. Bakewell is a very attractive town, which is well-stocked with pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, and plenty of shops where you can buy anything from camping goods to vintage, and of course Bakewell tarts (or puddings). For the energetic, there is an excellent 6 mile circular walk to Monsal Head returning via Monsal Dale. There is also a very good pub at Monsal Head, as well as a tea room. The Monsal Trail runs along a disused railway line for about 8 miles, and is a good level route for both walking and cycling. We plan to leave at 11am on Sunday for a one hour cruise to the National Tramway Museum at Crich. I have arranged for us to get group admission prices, which are £10 for adults, £9 for 60+ (hooray!), and £6 for children 4-15. I will post another message to sort out admissions. The Tramway Museum have given us permission to drive in convoy down the Main Street where they run the trams, and will temporarily halt the tram service to allow this. We need 2 or 3 volunteers to help us marshal this, and also to take photos. To give you a flavour, here is a photo of a previous VW event at the site: For those who have not yet booked, we still have a few pitches available. Please let me know if you wish to book. | |

How-a-bout a reverse rainbow colour convoy for a change then you would be at the front Als instead of always at the rear! Would make the photos look different as well. ________________________________________________________________________________ Proud winners of Spike's Trophy 2017 Scooby - Born To Run
