Hello everyone!
Not officially a camper owner yet, but myself and my wife have recently put a deposit on a 2005 Brazilian Rio T2 Camper, with 15,000 miles from Danbury in Bristol and are looking forward to being proud owners (probably be about February 2018 before it is ready!)
It is a 1.6 Aircooled model and is currently black and white. We are having a few bits done to it (respray to dark purple and white, new seat configuration, covers and seat cushions renewed and power steering fitted, buddy seat fitted). It is right hand drive, has roof beds, Webasto heater etc and it has been our dream to own a campervan for many years!
We live in Kent and I am sure we will find this forum and all the information here most valuable.
When it is resprayed dark purple on the lower half, we think “Merlot” might be a good name :-)

Welcome - you'll have a fine BraziBay once all the work has been done!

Is it Danbury PAS they're fitting out of interest?

Hi All and thanks for the welcome.
Yes Danbury will be fitting the powered steering.
As it will be my main transport we decided to bite the bullet and get that done at the same time as the other work (especially as there will be a fair amount of parallel parking!)
I will definitely be posting pictures of the finished article when we have it :-)

An Airbus with Danbury PAS is a rare beast.

Well in terms of uniqueness yes - and as such the combo of Aircooled and the DDPAS should mean your bus will retain higher value.

Excellent!
........... Although, if we enjoy “Merlot” as much as we think we will it’ll be a long time before we think about selling :-)
I can see this is going to be a long wait until February, but at least it gives us time to prepare and I’m very glad the wife found this site for me. It’s seems to have loads of helpful info and interesting topics and like minded Camper people.
Hopefully we have sorted most bits, with the exception of new curtains (working on it and ordering fabric swatches) and rubber mats for the front footwell. Exciting stuff!!!

Love the name "Merlot", wish I had thought of it! My friends once had one called "Van Rouge" which also made me laugh!

Power steering for a daily drive van is definitely a good investment. With the Danbury Direct Drive it isn't just the power assist, it's also the extra precision of the rack-and-pinion beam.

Welcome to the forum, we recently collected our van from Danbury, the wait is a killer but its worth it in the end!!

(only advice is to ask for regular updates from the beginning)
