| I just need to get through this week - clear my desk - and then I'll officially be in holiday mode. Not long now but there's a small hill to climb first... ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| My girls are getting so excited and counting down the number of sleeps to go. Even going so far as to cross off the days on my Brazibay calendar, vandals.
Just a few more things to buy (high viz jackets, bulbs, other bits and bobs) and then one great big pack-up.

| Hello All,
Apologies for the lack of presence on the forum of late, I can't believe it's less than a week to go!
A couple of questions...
Will everyone be taking PMR446 walkie talkies to keep in touch whilst on the road?
Secondly, I know we'll supposedly have wifi at the site. However, as I have to ensure that I'll have Internet access whilst away, I've purchased an Orange France data sim which comes with 3GB of bandwidth. Is anyone interested in having the use of this? It won't be expensive, probably less than a fiver each.

> Ian - there are loads of kids going. Big ones and little ones! Youngest is around 4/5 I believe. Oldest .... who can say?! 43 of us in total. Are you volunteering to be in the vanguard then Tim? Mrs B and I are happy to lead the way if you want us to. She drives, I navigate! ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

Are you volunteering to be in the vanguard then Tim? Mrs B and I are happy to lead the way if you want us to. She drives, I navigate! I've got the route all pre-programmed in the flight computer Abs - plus I want to keep the pace steady for the group. Maybe you could go somewhere mid group to guarantee we stick to the correct route should we get separated? ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| Just out of interest, what sort of steady pace were you anticipating? I know how fast I go but wondered about others. | |

And we can't do that? LOL! We might pick up the rear then! We can just go at our own pace and we know the way so it won't be an issue if we get dropped off the back. We may well rendezvous at the Ferry in Portsmouth as well on Sunday - not easy manoeuvering around the back roads with the trailer. ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| I guarantee you that if you park outside the Morrisons on the road, you'll have no manoeuvring issues. The car park wasn't that busy on Saturday when I was there around 6.30 either, plus the store will be closing at 4.
You do realise that if Scooby was joining us it would be law that we drive in the rainbow colour order! ________________________________________________________________________________ Max SportsKombi - The Bay Racer @brazilianvwbay

| May seem a daft question but how much / what sort of food are people taking or are you planning on buying stuff there? I've not done long trips before and whilst taking stuff for a weekend is ok, a trip of this magnitude has me a bit flummoxed, especially bearing in mind kids. | |

| Alison and I were talking about this last night. We're planning to take just enough to see us through on the Monday when we arrive.
We'll have tea, coffee, milk, etc as well as our usual "dry goods" store with some basic cooking stuff like dried herbs, salt, pepper, stock pots, curry powder ( I can't go 3 weeks without one of my curries).
We'll pop to a local hypermarche after that as and when we need things. We tend to eat simply on holiday - BBQs, pasta, cheese, cold meat, etc. ________________________________________________________________________________ Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

| Yep - Same here. We have a 'dry store' box of instant rice, pasta, herbs, salt&pepper, tinned toms and other tins, Tetrapak juices etc - and then fridge will be biere, vin blanc, Cidre, Noilly Prat - oh and possibly lait. That's one of the reasons for going to France - enjoying the cuisine and trying something new. No Marmite and PG tips in our Kombi! LOL Really looking forward now - Who's got a decent rounders set?
