We didn’t know if we were doing the right thing but decided to leave Viareggio in lovely sunshine and head back for France and Antibes our next stopover – this was to be the longest drive but knew we would have a number of days in Cote D’Azur to recover! I couldn’t believe that when we got to Antibes that the weather had got cloudy and wasn’t looking very good and we did get rain overnight but it had cleared by morning and thankfully the sunshine caught up with us. We had met a couple on the site who said that driving into either Nice or Cannes was a nightmare and to use the bus…only 1 euro each for a bus ride up to 30km very good value and easy too! Didn’t know what to expect of Cannes but was disappointed – no film or rock stars I suppose. Antibes is by far a nicer place with a great old part of the town and fantastic marina and we stayed here for 5 nights and did the sightseeing by bus. Unfortunately we had to head back north all too soon and were on our way to next stopover at Cormoranche near Macon and probably leaving the sun behind
Had to say arriverderchi and start back for France
Our pitch at 'Le Rossignol' Antibes
The view back to Nice

All the stars are in Cannes this week for the film festival, the rest of the time they stay away!

What wouldn't we give for some of that hot sunshine?

I was disappointed with Cannes when I motored through there a few years back. But the road along the coast towards Frejus where I was staying was superb. As was the drive through the Alps from Switzerland to Italy ... but that's another story, and no didn't do it in Max. One day ....
