The site at San Remo wasn’t very nice and looked more like a car park with lots of trees…there were some nice pitches which looked out to the sea but we decided to stay only 1 night and move on to Viarregio next morning which was going to be our base for visiting Tuscany. We stayed with the autostratta as it was a lot better re petrol, didn’t cost too much and would be a lot quicker. Our base turned out to be really nice and was within a short walk to both town and beach. This site however was the only one to charge extra for a shower – only 50c but did seem a bit unnecessary, it was also at the top end of the ACSI price being 16euros per night. Having now read the ACSI guide it appears we were ripped off as you are supposed to get a shower per person per night included but hey ho! We did our touring by train which was really easy although we nearly had a 40euro fine because we had not got our ticket stamped at our departure station – thankfully this was a nice Italian inspector who only charged us 5euros as it was our first time on a train in Italy! We stayed here for 4 nights and did Florence, Pisa, Lucca and of course the beach, could have stayed longer but I have to be honest and say that I wanted to get back to The Cote D’Azur and see more of Provence
Did get time for a beer
A bit of a car park
On to Viareggio, it was a bit windy on these open stretches with the sea off to the right
