Hello Folks,

Hopefully picking up our BraziBay on Wednesday so I am getting right on to recommended insurance providers and scouring the threads and guides for helpful information.

If anyone can recommend a bodywork specialist in Warwickshire that is familiar with our campers I would be grateful.  Olive is a 2009 van with less than 20,000 miles that has a couple of areas needing attention plus there appears to be little or no underseal so I will be rectifying that too.

For the next month or two we will be living just 15 mins from Anita's Caravan Park so we hope to join some of you there at the end of May if I can get the bodywork and my sloppy steering sorted.

Welcome to the BraziBunch RacingSnake!

Do we know this 'Olive?' Or is this a new Kombi to add to our collection?

I hope not, she was tucked up in bed when I last saw her. Maybe I should go and have a look

Thanks for the welcome Tim. There isn't a bvwb sticker on the van currently so it might be a new addition to the site. I will post some more details once she is home, as yet I don't even know the paint code until I email Danbury to check their records, it is metallic and could be a Scirocco colour.

Don't worry olive ours is a very different shade to yours and might have to be renamed!

Welcome to the Forum. Pop along to the Sleepover anyway, even if it's to have a nose at all the other Kombis

Hi and welcome, if your kombi is the one that alderley just missed, I think the colour is described as Green Tendence VW code LA6M, (see Tim's post re green tendence bay for sale Stratford-on-Avon).

I believe the colour was used on 2001 Polos', amongst others.

Correct, my kombi is the Stratford on Avon one, thank you dizzylizard that saves me chasing Danbury for a code.
Very sorry alderley, if it is any consolation I lost out on a couple of vans by just a few hours before I found this one right on my doorstep.

Ian at VWKampers has a couple of nice ones that we were going to look at, by all accounts his vehicles are well prepared so it would be worth the trip from Cheshire.

No need to be sorry RacingSnake, all's fair in love and war! Hopefully we will have a chance to meet up and compare vans some time in the future. Good luck with Olive.  Smile

We recommend Frankies Auto Paint, they look after all our paintwork and bodywork (We have just had Mushroom re-sprayed in his original colours following a vinyl wrap that went wrong). You can find their contact details on our website 07792 775581. www.t24fun.co.uk Additionally, we would recommend Kingshill Campers for mechanical repair/servicing and Wax Oyl treatment. 07988 171244.

If that's what their website is saying, it might be as well to phone Frankie and leave a message as he had to have his spraybooth/oven replaced recently and he might not have removed his massage. Carl's are very good also for bodywork, but Frankie is best for paintwork, other bodyworkers use him for painting.

For 'sloppy steering' autocorrect to 'characterful drive based on a 1950s design.'

Just make sure the steering box has no leaks, is full and adjusted correctly.

True, and I am ready to enbrace 1950's character but there is definitely some early wear and tear on my steering. I have many years mechanical experience but it is on everything but VW so the steering set up is all Greek to me at the moment, I just have to work through it methodically.

Are there any companies refurbing steering boxes or is it just a case of buying a new one if there is a leak or play?

Suggest you use the search facility screen top left using the term 'steering' and see what's been discussed on the subject so far. Best to tackle it there rather than on this thread.  Basketball

Thanks to Matt and Andy at Danbury for solving my Kombi Kolour Konundrum.

A number of you on here identified Connie as Tendence Green LA6M including dizzylzard but when I parked up near to his van at the Sleepover it was clear that our vans weren't exactly the same colour.  My local paint shop mistakenly told me that there is only one version of LA6M but it turns out there are several shades.  Luckily after a chat with the guys from Danbury at the Sleepover, Matt found the right info which was tricky because of a couple of personalised number plate changes.

dizzylizard if you give Matt a call he will let you know which exact shade your van is.  For touching in chips any LA6M will do but when it comes to panel work it needs to be exactly the right version.
