| Hello all,
Just returned from Bristol where we have put down a deposit on "Eddie" a Blue Watercooled T2 who should be with us in a few weeks time!
Having not owned a camper before I have been busy mining the many topics on this site to determine what extras I should or shouldn't add to the van.
One question I've not seen an answer to yet is:
Has anybody taken the Danbury alarm option and if so has it had much of an impact on your insurance? and is it prone to false alarms?

| Hi Dom, and welcome to the forum. I've had the Danbury alarm from new, and I haven't had false alarm problems to date (tempting fate   ) I would check with several insurance companies first, as I am pretty sure some won't touch it unless it is fitted with a 'Thatcham Approved' alarm, it should also make the premium slightly less. | |

| Daz, Dizzy - Nice to meet you and thanks for the quick replies!
I think the immobiliser will be fine for most insurance companies and from the quotes I have seen thus far I can't imagine it will be a huge amount of savings in premiums.
An alarm would give a little more peace of mind in terms of protecting any contents. But not seen much talk of them on here - wasn't sure if it was because people didn't think they were worth the money or just didn't want to discuss security measures in an open forum.

| Hi and welcome. Our van's called Eddie too (he's just a nice guy!).
You will have an opportunity to meet a few of us at Dubs in the Forest in September. Camping's sold out but you can still come as a day visitor - it'll be your local show.

| Harry , Scooby, thanks for the replies and heads up for Dubs in the Forest!
For some reason I thought we had already missed that - must have been a different event in Beaulieu we spotted a couple of weeks back. It is a shame the camping is sold out but we will definitely be along for the day !

When we first insured our van we did need to have a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm so had one fitted and have had no false alarms.
