Volksworld Show 2012 24 - 25 Mar - Sandown Park, Esher.

I was thinking about that too as we drove back home on Sunday. I reckon none of the "traditional" owners look forward to Spring as much as we all do.

To us it means heading out each weekend to enjoy the vans for what they can do - taking us places and allowing us to sleep over without worrying too much about the journey there!

I think we get the best of both worlds: admiring glances and reliability - I'm not sure any of us would want a van that might break down at any time and where there was a niggling doubt in your mind every time you set off on a trip.

Some of the older vans at the show were spectacular and I could drool over them all day - but drive them very far? Not for me I'm afraid.

One of the questions we liked when discussing Scooby with a member of the public . . .
Did you put the 1.6 air cooled engine in yourself?
Some time was then spent explaining the different models/engines and years etc.
We were thanked for our time - all part of the service you know

As we left on the Sunday, queuing through the car park, we saw several of the vans (bays and splits) being loaded onto trailers for their journey home.

Great looking buses, but what's the point if you can't actually drive them - let alone go camping and make a decent cuppa!

All the above are just the reason we bought Mish, as an everyday vehicle....... and soon to have power steering!!!.................................small job of convincing management

Just a quick footnote to pass on thanks to Tim, for his hospitality in letting a bunch of us 'crash' at his house, but more importantly for all his hard work in getting organised for this show, incredible, thanks mate!!!!!!!

Hi Tim and the team, good to meet you at the show and put faces to names at last.
(Apologies to you Tim for the little wind-up when we first met, but I wouldn't get another chance).

Only drawback was having to rush round a bit having got stuck in traffic earlier so we didn't get enough free time for chatmode, but did manage to get some sample swatches from Newtons to match up Dizzys door cards, and saw a fetching woodrim wheel in a light colour to match. (couldn't find any string back gloves or flat caps to go with it though, unfortunately) (I jest)

Managed to get round the rest of the show, so all in all, with the sunshine and friendly faces, an excellent day out. Thankyou one and all.

Cheers fella .... and nice that Mish consistently gives you a little bit of a scare every time you bring her near this show. For those that weren't there, the coolant light started to come on whilst we were stuck in the traffic to exit the show. We stopped at a convenient point to check levels on the short ride back to mine - all ok - and then again at my place. All fine, just a Kombi with kwerks!

It must be something to do with Aqua's. I assumed that aircooled would have cooling problems, but I found out that Dizzy does't like sitting in traffic either, having travelled at walking pace from the M25 to the show on Saturday, she started complaining after an hour or so. All yesterday she was still gurgling like nobody's business, and has just settled down again.

Having said that, and not that I wish a breakdown on anyone, at least she fared better than a brand spanking new Porche Boxter that was stuck on the verge with overheating problems.

My fan kept kicking in whilst stuck in the queue to get through Esher centre - I tried to look calm so as not to spook Alison!

Had the same issue with Olive on the way into the show...but she kept her cool thankfully and the fan did its job - all was OK an the way back to Kent! I don't like not having a temp guage to look at, is this something that can be added?
Great show everyone the bays on display were fantastic and was nice to see some faces and thanks for the info 'ginger man with a ginger van', we decided as we have an expensive trip coming soon we thought we should wait to get some nice Empi's like yours!

It was great to catch up with some of you at the show on Saturday and Sunday, hope you all had a fab weekend, my wallet seems to be very empty today As this fab weather looks set to continue I'm heading off tomorrow for another little jaunt - oh the joys of being (very early) retired!
